The mission of MediaLiteracy.com is to increase awareness of the need for media literacy education and of the many resources available for teaching it.
We feature links organized in unique and useful ways (such as free printer-friendly downloads organized by topic area).
There's a lot going in many countries in media literacy education. This site focuses on the United States for two reasons:
Even though the U.S. is responsible for producing most of the media products distributed around the globe, millions of Americans have never heard of media literacy. Learn why America is so far behind in teaching about media, and check out these international media literacy education websites to see how advanced many other countries are in helping their children learn to navigate a world of powerful images and sounds.
This is a solo, unpaid effort, and there is only so much one person can do. I am open to inquiries from educational organizations or institutions that might be interested in acquiring this domain name to advance the cause of media literacy nationally or internationally.
I consider myself a steward of this "gateway" internet domain for media literacy education. Thank you for visiting and please let us know how we can serve your interest in media literacy education.
