National Association for Media Literacy Education is a national membership organization dedicated to advancing the field of media literacy education in the United States. It hosts the only online catalog of media literacy teaching resources (books, DVDs, teaching kits, curricula, etc.) and the online, peer-reviewed Journal of Media Literacy Education. The Media Education Lab at Temple University, Philadelphia, Penn. Outstanding resource with two primary goals: (1) Providing community outreach, public programs, and educational services and multimedia curriculum resources targeted to the needs of youth and local school and after-school educators; and (2) Developing a multidisciplinary research agenda to explore the broad educational impact of media and technology, with a focus on media literacy education. Media Awareness Network is home to "one of the world's most comprehensive collections of media and digital literacy resources. MNet is a Canadian non-profit organization that has been pioneering the development of media and digital literacy programs since its incorporation in 1996. More than 80 per cent of MNet’s programs and resources are a public asset and are freely available through MNet’s Web site." The Media Spot "integrates media literacy education through digital media production in schools, classrooms, afterschool programs, and other educational settings. Project Look Sharp is "a media literacy initiative of Ithaca College to provide materials, training and support for the effective integration of media literacy with critical thinking into classroom curricula at all education levels." Media Literacy Project (formerly called New Mexico Media Literacy Project) "cultivates critical thinking and activism in our media culture to build healthy and just communities." Includes MediaLiteracyToolbox.com, an "online resource for educators, media activists, media makers, parents and students," with educational kits available for preview and purchase. Media Literacy Clearinghouse, developed by media educator Frank W. Baker, has a "mission is to assist K-12 educators who want to teach standards that include non-print, media texts; learn more about media literacy; integrate it into classroom instruction; help students read the media; help students become more media aware; locate appropriate resources." Media Education Foundation "produces and distributes documentary films and other educational resources to inspire critical reflection on the social, political, and cultural impact of American mass media. Our aim is to inspire students to think critically and in new ways about the hyper-mediated world around them." Primarily for high school and college/university level. Center for Media Literacy is an educational consulting business built on the foundation of the former non-profit of the same name. It provides curricula, professional development, implementation and research "to prepare educators, parents and children with the media literacy skills necessary to be enlightened, engaged citizens of a global media culture."
